Pulp packaging executive to meet Brazilian industry leaders

10/09/2010
A major international developer of clean technology products for the packaging industry is to meet with executives from the Brazilian pulp and paper industry, with a view to establishing a partnership.

Chief executive of Pakit Inc., Brian Birmingham, will be meeting with the Brazilian representatives at the 43rd Pulp and Paper Congress and Exhibition (ABTCP) in October.

Mr Birmingham said the meetings were crucially important to the company. "The Brazilian forestry productivity is envied world-wide," he said. "And Brazil and South America represent a sizable and significant market for Pakit."

Brazil produced more than 13.5 million tons of pulp in 2009, making it the world's fourth largest pulp and paper producer. The production has been aided by the use of fast growing eucalyptus and pine, and leading edge technology.

The main subject of the talks will be Pakit's new technology process of producing sustainable packaging made of pulp, producing more economical items that offer superior performance to other contending packaging products.

Mr. Birmingham explained, "The pakit100™ patented technology uses on average two tons per day of pulp, generating a product that is recyclable, biodegradable and made from renewable resources."

"In Brazil alone, 500 pakit100™ machines could convert 350,000 tons of pulp into consumer-based, environmentally-sustainable products per year."
