29/03/2010
It has been announced that a delegation of officials from the Chinese State Forestry Administration will be visiting the UK this week.
The meeting, which will be hosted by the Institute of Chartered Foresters (IFC), will take place this Wednesday, 31st March. The agenda will include a discussion on professionalism in forestry and arboriculture in the UK.
The delegation of 17 officials is being led by Gao Yuying, director-general inspector of the development & funds management section of the Chinese State Forestry Administration. The Chinese officials in the delegation represent the Chinese Academy of Forestry Science and various state provinces of China. They will meet with Shireen Chambers, the ICF executive director, and Fenning Welstead, the vice president of the ICF, at the organisation’s headquarters in Edinburgh.
The aim of the meeting is to foster cooperation between the UK and China on matters relating to forestry and arboriculture.
Shireen Chambers commented: "We can all learn from each other. We're delighted to have the opportunity to raise the profile of our members working in forestry and arboriculture.”
She went on to add: “With the increasing international focus on climate change and the bigger picture, it's very important to support co-operation and mutual learning. As the Royal Chartered body for foresters and arboriculturists in the UK, the ICF should play a role in this."
